Gary Broz was born in San Angelo, Texas. He is a 1973 graduate of Paint Rock High School in Paint Rock, Texas. After graduating, Gary went to college at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas and graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and minor in Chemistry. He returned to Paint Rock and joined Family Farming and Ranching Operations until 1987. Gary was elected Mayor of Paint Rock in 1983 and served 2 terms. Broz served as General Manager of Paint Rock Wool Warehouse from 1982 to 1987 when it sold. In February 1987, Gary went to work for the City of Brady. He started as a crew member then promoted to Purchasing Agent, then moved up the rank to Director of Public Works. In 1994, moved into Administration serving as Assistant to the City Manager, and then as Assistant City Manager. In September 1997, Gary was named Interim City Manager until January 1998 when named City Manager. Broz left Brady in November 200 for the City Manager position in Port Lavaca where he served there until November 2009 then left to serve as City Manager in Eagle Lake, Texas until April 2020. On April 13, 2020, Gary accepted the position of City Manager for the City of Edna.
Gary is married to Georgia Broz. They have been married for 40 years. Georgia retired from teaching High School Special Education in 2016. Their daughter, Shauna and son-in-law Bartley Skoruppa live in Ganado; their son, Jonathan along with grandson, Brighton live in Port Lavaca.
