Under the direction of the City Manager, the Finance Director plans, organizes, and directs the financial activities of the city including debt management, purchasing, general accounting, investments, financial planning, payroll, utility billing, prepares and oversees various journal entries. Responsible for the preparation of complex reports and records; constant contact with Department Heads /Supervisors and the public; makes daily decisions ranging from simple to difficult.
Performs a variety of complex supervisory, professional, administrative, technical accounting and finance functions in maintaining the fiscal records and systems of the city.
Requirements: Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Business Administration and/or related field., CFA, CPA or CFGO is preferred, and seven (7) years of progressively responsible municipal finance work, with a minimum of five (5) years in a managerial capacity; or any equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience substituting for the required education on a year for year basis.
This position requires a valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License and a good driving record. Must complete Public Funds Investment Act training every two (2) years. Must be bondable and able to work flexible hours.
Salary: Depending on qualifications.
